Barcrest

Founded in 1968 Barcrest established itself as a leading name in terminals and content in the Arcade and Bingo sector. Barcrest was formed in 1968 as a designer and manufacturer of analogue fruit machines for the UK leisure gaming sector. Over the next decade, Barcrest became a leading force in the UK amusement sector and expanded both in the UK and regulated sectors in continental Europe.

Over the following three decades, Barcrest expanded its product offering into digital gaming. The in-house design and development teams were responsible for delivering some of the most engaging and popular gaming content, including the legendary Rainbow Riches game brand in 2006. Barcrest soon established itself as a leading supplier of game content and terminals to the UK gaming industry.

Following on its success in the bingo and arcade sectors, Barcrest expanded its product offering by entering into the interactive gaming sector in 2006, providing multi-channel game content to operators of interactive digital television, mobile and internet gaming.

In 2011 Barcrest was acquired by Scientific Games.

The Global Draw

The Global Draw was formed in the late nineties to create the world’s first wide area, centrally determined gaming system.

This was achieved through the introduction of server-based gaming machines to the UK’s licensed betting offices – a brand new category of terminal that has had a profound impact on the marketplace, helping to substantially grow machine income and profitability.

Following a firmly established position as a sector leader in server-based gaming, The Global Draw was recognised as the fastest growing UK private company from 2003 to 2005.

In 2006, The Global Draw became a wholly owned subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation, with the vision of developing networked gaming terminal systems worldwide.

Chief Executive Officer
Phil Horne is Group Managing Director at SG Gaming. Phil has spent the majority of his career working in the betting industry. Having started out as a trainee betting shop manager with Coral, he worked his way up through the ranks becoming an Area Manager before being appointed to the position of Gaming Director in the late 1990s. It was in this role that Phil was given responsibility for setting up a gaming division and implementing the rollout of B2/B3 gaming machines across Coral’s estate when they were first introduced in 1999. Phil worked closely with the then Director of The Global Draw, Steve Frater, now SG Gaming’s Executive Chairman, to deliver the new gaming machine concept to the Coral estate. The two have a longstanding relationship and have worked in partnership for many years. It was as a result of the strength in their working relationship, in addition to Phil’s wide-ranging experience of the industry that led to Phil’s appointment as Managing Director at The Global Draw in 2007. As Managing Director, Phil was given responsibility for the Licensed Betting Office and then International Division. In 2011 Scientific Games acquired Barcrest, a market leader providing terminals and content for arcade and bingo clubs. Following the acquisition, The Global Draw and Barcrest rebranded to become one new gaming division, SG Gaming, in 2012. Phil was appointed Group Managing Director in 2013 assuming responsibility for all sectors of the business including the Arcade and Bingo and Licenced Betting Office sectors. In April 2016 Phil was appointed Chief Executive Officer of SG Gaming UK overseeing the entire UK business across Gaming and Sports Betting.
